We offer simple one or two day foot trimming training courses to groups around the country, these can be either practical or in a classroom environment, or both. We also offer one-to-one work experience for individuals.

On our courses we offer the opportunity for beginners to trim on cadaver cows’ feet until a level of competency is reached when trimming a live cow’s claws can be contemplated. We spend time in the classroom looking at important subjects such as the anatomy of the lower leg and foot and infectious and non-infectious diseases of the feet. We also look at the NACFT approved Dutch 5 Step Method, as well as the Kansas and Dairyland Method. All in all we care about good cow welfare and sharing knowledge in keeping cows feet healthy. We are now also running workshops from our purpose-built teaching facility in Somerset.

I have worked with Steve on a number of lameness workshops across the north of England from Whitby to Lancashire and Cumbria. The workshops have been very successful, mainly because they have been run from a practical approach focusing on prevention, and giving farmers practical tips which they can apply at home on their own herds. Steve Paul is very skilled at trimming cows feet, and this is obvious to those attending the workshops, he is also good at passing these skills onto others via demonstrations and discussions on best practice. This is demonstrated by the fact that many attendees on the workshops have asked if Steve will travel from Somerset to trim cows feet in the north of England!’
